Australia has announced their squad of all formats for the tour of Sri Lanka in June. Australia is set to play 2 Test matches, 5 ODIs and three-match T20I series in their tour of Sri Lanka in June-July. The George Bailey-led selection committee had some tough decisions to make regarding selection.
For Test matches, there was no surprise in the squad selected. They retained almost all test players from their successful and historical tour of Pakistan. However, the only difference was that the size of the squad was reduced to 16 members.
Australia Test squad: Pat Cummins (capt), Ashton Agar, Scott Boland, Alex Carey (wk), Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis (wk), Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Steven Smith (vice-capt), Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Swepson, David Warner
Adam Zampa to miss white-ball series in Sri Lanka
In the white-ball squad, Ben McDermott was the surprising exclusion despite doing great in the ODI series in Pakistan. Australia have selected a full-strength squad for the limited-overs series in Sri Lanka. Steven Smith, David Warner, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood are back in the ODI squad after missing the last ODI series in Pakistan.
Adam Zampa hasn’t been included in the white-ball squad for Sri Lanka as he is expecting the birth of his first child. Pat Cummins too is rested from the T20I series for managing his workload. Aaron Finch will lead the white ball squad of Australia.
Australia ODI squad: Aaron Finch (capt), Ashton Agar, Alex Carey (wk), Pat Cummins, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis (wk), Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Steven Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Mitchell Swepson, David Warner
