Australia named a strong 15-member squad for the 3-match T20I series against New Zealand to be played from 21st February 2024. Mitchell Marsh would lead the squad.

It will see the return of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood for the T20I series against New Zealand. This would serve as an ideal preparation for the T20 World Cup to be played in the West Indies and the United States of America in June this year.

Travis Head, Matthew Short, David Warner, Tim David along with Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, and Mitchell Marsh would comprise the batters. Glenn Maxwell and Stoinis would see the role of all-rounders.

Josh Inglis and Matthew Wade would do the job of wicketkeepers. The pace bowling department will see Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and Nathan Ellis. Adam Zampa would do the role of genuine spinner in the series.

The first T20I match will be played on 21st February at Sky Stadium, Wellington, followed by 2nd match at Eden Park, Auckland on 23rd February and the final match to be played on 25th February at the same venue.

It promises to be an exciting series between the top two teams in the world. Travis, Pat, Mitchell, and Steve rejoin the squad following the series against the West Indies with Jason Behrendorff and Sean Abbott amongst the standby players from those playing the upcoming T20s,” Bailey said.

Australia would face West Indies in 3 match T20I series at home after the 3rd One-day match at Canberra on 6th Feb. Travis Head, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood has been rested for the series keeping in the mind New Zealand tour.

“The next six games will provide us the opportunity to start shaping what we think our World Cup squad will look like and potential roles within that.

After the series against West Indies, Australian players would feature in the Indian Premier League 2024 for different franchises and hope to perform well during that tournament.
