India’s Under-19 team continued its dominance in age-group cricket by storming into the final of the ICC U19 World Cup 2026, marking a record 10th appearance in the summit clash — more than any other nation in the tournament’s history.

Their place in the final was sealed with an emphatic seven-wicket win over Afghanistan in the semifinal, where India successfully chased down a stiff target of 311 runs. The performance underlined the squad’s depth, composure, and clarity of approach, especially in high-pressure knockout games.

Captain Ayush Mhatre expressed immense pride in the team’s journey so far and emphasized that the job is only half done. Speaking after the semifinal, Mhatre made it clear that India would leave nothing in the tank when they step onto the field for the final.

“We Will Give Our 110 Per Cent”

Reflecting on the upcoming title clash against England, Mhatre highlighted the squad’s mindset and commitment. “We will give our 110 per cent in the final,” the India U19 skipper said, underlining the team’s hunger to convert their strong run into a championship victory. He also spoke about the importance of sticking to basics, staying calm under pressure, and trusting the processes that have brought the team this far in the tournament.

Mhatre pointed out that the team has focused on playing positive cricket rather than worrying about the occasion. According to him, the support from fans and the confidence built through consistent performances have helped the players remain grounded and focused heading into the final.

Batting Brilliance Powers Record Chase

India’s semifinal victory was built on a commanding batting display, led by a sensational unbeaten century from Aaron George, who anchored the chase with maturity beyond his years. Opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi once again provided a rapid start, scoring freely at the top and easing pressure on the middle order. Mhatre praised the openers, noting how their intent allowed the rest of the batting unit to play with freedom.

The captain also acknowledged that the batting-friendly conditions at Harare Sports Club suited India’s natural style of play. Despite Afghanistan’s bowlers fighting hard, India’s composure and depth proved decisive, setting up a mouth-watering final against England with confidence sky-high and history within touching distance.
