Pakistan skipper Babar Azam continues to break world records in international cricket. He has been one of the most consistent batters in world cricket at the moment, across formats. On Wednesday, Babar Azam surpassed Indian batter Virat Kohli in staying as the World No. 1 batter for the longest period. He retained his Number 1 spot in the latest ICC rankings for batters in the T20I format.
Former India skipper Virat Kohli was the Number 1 ranked batter for a total of 1,013 days. However, now, Babar has surpassed him, for staying at the top of the T20I batter’s rankings for the longest period. He has 818 points in the rankings, at the top while his teammate Mohammad Rizwan is second with 794 points. The Pakistan skipper is also the Number 1 batter in ODIs format.

Babar Azam last played a T20I match against Australia at Lahore. He slammed 66 runs off 46 balls, including six boundaries and two sixes. Meanwhile, Indian wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan slipped one place and is seventh on the ICC T20I Rankings for batters. In the recently concluded T20I series against Ireland, Ishan Kishan scored 29 runs in two matches, at an average of 14.50.
Deepak Hooda and Sanju Samson make huge advances in the latest ICC T20I rankings for batters
Indian batter Deepak Hooda and Sanju Samson have been rewarded for their brilliant performances against Ireland in the T20I series. Hooda slammed an unbeaten 47 in the first match. He followed it up with his maiden T20I hundred, scoring 104 runs off just 57 balls. The batting all-rounder jumped 414 places to 104th in the rankings.
On the other hand, Sanju Samson, who scored 77 runs in the second T20I against Ireland, reached the 144th spot in the batting chart. Ireland’s Harry Tector too gained 55 places. He is now 66th in the batter’s rankings. Speaking about bowlers, India’s Harshal Patel has jumped to 33rd position in the rankings, while Ireland’s Mark Adair rose to 45th place.
