Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has been in amazing form in international cricket since last one year. He has led from the front for the Pakistan team as captain. Recently, he hit  two back to back ODI centuries against Australia and continued his great form in ODI series against West Indies too.

Babar Azam is currently No.1 ranked ODI and T20I Batsman in the world. Ian Bishop was in awe of the consistency of Babar in ODIs. Ian Bishop said:

“Babar Azam is on the road to greatness, And I want to be clear when I say on the road to it in white-ball cricket at least and certainly 50-overs cricket.”

Ian Bishop feels that Babar has already achieved greatness in ODIs. Bishop said, “I don’t use the term great loosely. I think I have discussed this with a couple of my colleagues 24 hours ago, it has to be a bigger sample size but average as it stands now, on the cusp of 60 with 17 ODI hundreds.”

Ian Bishop also said that Babar has overtaken Virat Kohli as the ODI batsmen. Bishop added, “He has almost overtaken his next-door neighbor, the great Virat Kohli, in terms of the ultimate 50-over batsman.”

Pakistan’s all-form captain averages almost 60 in ODIs with 17 ODI hundreds.

“His test cricket is work in progress”: Ian Bishop talks about Babar Azam future in Test Cricket

Ian Bishop feels that Babar Azam will soon achieve greatness in Test cricket too. Bishop feels that Babar’s Test game is work in progress.”His Test cricket is a work in progress. I’m surprised he hasn’t taken Test cricket numbers a lot earlier,” Bishop further said.

Ian Bishop while speaking to Cricwick made a prediction that Babar would be mentioned in top 3-4 Test players in future. Bishop added:

“He’s starting to get better at it. Technically, he’s superb. In the future, I’m hoping he will be mentioned in the same breath in Test cricket as the top 3-4 players.”
