Team India cricketer Ravindra Jadeja pulled off an outstanding performance in the first Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia on Thursday, February 9 at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. He picked up a five-wicket haul on his comeback, as the visitors crumbled to 177 runs in the first innings.

Australian skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bat first. However, his team couldn’t make the most of the advantage. They lost both their openers for just two runs on the board. Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne tried to steady the ship before Ravindra Jadeja wreaked havoc. He dismissed Labuschagne for 49 runs, as KS Bharat pulled off a great stumping effort.

Ravindra Jadeja did not look back after that dismissal and sent back Matt Renshaw for a golden duck. He also took the big wicket of Steve Smith, breaking the back of the Australian batting attack. The all-rounder finished the innings with a five-for, conceding 47 runs in 22 overs, at an economy rate of 2.10.

The ongoing Test match is Ravindra Jadeja’s first international game, post his injury. He underwent knee surgery and was on the road to recovery in the last few months. The left-arm bowler played for Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy to prove his fitness ahead of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. His performance in the comeback game for Team India has put the side in the driver’s seat after the end of the first innings.

Let’s take a look at how fans reacted to Ravindra Jadeja’s five-wicket haul on his comeback:
