Bangladesh have called up Nasum Ahmed for the second Test against India, scheduled to take place in Dhaka, starting on December 22. The hosts will be desperate to bounce back to level the two-match series after a thumping defeat in the Chattogram Test.
The inclusion of Nasum doesn’t come as a surprise after Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo admitted that they are not sure of skipper Shakib Al Hasan’s participation in the second Test. Shakib has been struggling with a shoulder injury alongside pain in the ribs after being hurt in the second ODI by Umran Malik‘s short ball.
Shakib managed to bowl only 12 overs in the first innings of the first Test, while he decided not to bowl in the second innings. However, he played a valiant knock of 84 in the second innings of the match.
Ebadot Hossain left out of the Bangladesh squad
Pacer Ebadot Hossain, who couldn’t bowl in the second innings of the opening Test due to a back injury, isn’t part of the squad. Shoriful Islam has also been ruled out after sustaining a hamstring injury during a practice session just before the start of the first Test.
Former Test skipper Mominul Haque, who didn’t play in the first Test, has been retained in the squad. However, Anamul Haque also doesn’t find a place in the squad.
Bangladesh squad for 2nd Test: Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mominul Haque, Yasir Ali, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan (c), Litton Das, Nurul Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Taskin Ahmed, Khaled Ahmed, Zakir Hasan, Rejaur Rahman Raja.
