[WATCH] Bangladesh Captain Nigar Sultana Leaves With Her Team From The Joint Photograph Session After Harmanpreet Kaur’s Behaviour

The recent incident during the joint photograph session between Nigar Sultana-led Bangladesh Women and Harmanpreet Kaur-led  India Women made headlines for the wrong reason.  After the last ODI of the three-match series, which ended in a tie and resulted in a shared series, tensions rose due to a few controversial umpiring decisions during India’s batting.

In a video that surfaced online, Harmanpreet Kaur can be heard making sarcastic remarks, saying, “Bring the umpires too,” which upset Nigar Sultana. As a result, Sultana decided to ask her team to walk out of the photograph session.

Prior to this, during the post-match presentation, Kaur openly criticized the umpiring, labelling it as “pathetic” and suggesting that her team would have to be prepared for subpar officiating in future tours to Bangladesh.

In response to the incident, Sultana spoke to the officials of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and took her team off the joint photograph session. She expressed her disappointment with Kaur’s behaviour, stating that as a player, Kaur could have shown better manners.

According to Sultana, the environment was not right for the photograph, and she believed that cricket should be a game of discipline and respect. Furthermore, Nigar Sultana defended the umpires, highlighting their experience in men’s cricket and asserting that they were competent for the job they were assigned.

Harmanpreet Kaur to be fined 75% for her actions in the 3rd ODI against Bangladesh

As a consequence of her actions, Harmanpreet Kaur will reportedly face a 75% fine of her match fees. The fine is divided into 50% for breaking the stumps in anger during the match and 25% for her comments in the post-match presentation.

Additionally, Kaur will be given four demerit points, which often results in a ban of one Test match or two limited-overs matches. Overall, the incident has added to the tension between the two teams and has drawn attention to the importance of maintaining decorum and respect in cricket, both on and off the field.
