After threatening to reject Shakib AL Hasan’s NOC for IPL 2021, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has now decided to take a U-turn on star all-rounder’s participation. The board has decided to uphold Shakib’s No Objection Certificate to participate in the IPL. The move comes days after it threatened to reconsider the NOC given to Shakib, after a public fallout between the two parties.

The Bangladesh all-rounder said that he wanted to play in the tournament to improve his skills keeping in mind the World T20 later this year to be played in India. He further said that he wants to play the tournament to take the necessary experience from the big event later on.

“During the IPL season, I wanted time so that I can prepare myself better. The ground where I will play IPL now will be the ground where I will play the World Cup match after four months. The players with whom I will play the IPL will be the players against whom I will play in the World Cup,” Shakib said.

However, his words were misinterpreted by BCB cricket operation chairman Akram Khan, who said that Shakib does not want to play Test cricket anymore. He also threatened to reject the former skipper’s NOC for IPL 2021 participation.

“If someone is saying that I don’t want to tour Sri Lanka, where we have two Tests, to prepare for the World Cup then what does it actually mean?” Akram questioned, adding that the board will reconsider giving him the clearance for IPL 2021.

However, the confusion now seems to have reached a conclusion with Ismail Haider (BCB Director) confirming that Shakib’s “NOC will remain as it is and he can go and take part in IPL.”

As per reports in Cricbuzz, Shakib Al Hasan will leave Bangladesh on March 28 to join his KKR teammates and will have to complete a seven-day quarantine before being available for training. Meanwhile, back in Bangladesh, he has already been training at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

Shakib’s NOC is valid till May 18. He can return to his national team for the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka that is scheduled to start on May 20.
