The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has declared a massive cash prize of ₹58 crore for the Indian cricket team following their remarkable triumph in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The prize money will be distributed among the players, coaching and support staff, and the selection committee members who played a role in securing India’s victory.

This announcement comes as a reward for the team’s outstanding performance under the leadership of captain Rohit Sharma, who guided them to their third Champions Trophy title.

India’s Dominant Run in the Tournament

India displayed exceptional form throughout the tournament, winning four consecutive matches before clinching the title in the final. The campaign began with a six-wicket victory against Bangladesh, followed by another dominant six-wicket win over arch-rivals Pakistan. The team maintained its momentum with a commanding 44-run win over New Zealand in the group stage.

In the semi-final, they overcame Australia by four wickets, setting up a thrilling final clash against New Zealand. The final, held on March 9 in Dubai, saw India emerge victorious by four wickets. Captain Rohit Sharma led from the front, scoring a crucial 76 runs in a challenging chase, ensuring his team lifted the coveted trophy once again.

A Tradition of Grand Rewards from BCCI

Apart from the ₹58 crore reward, India also received nearly ₹20 crore ($2.24 million) in official ICC prize money for their Champions Trophy victory. The runners-up, New Zealand, walked away with $1.12 million (₹9.72 crore). This cash reward from BCCI is part of a tradition of recognizing major achievements.

After India’s T20 World Cup win in Barbados last year, the board had announced an even bigger ₹125 crore prize for the team, which was nearly three times the amount given to the 2011 ODI World Cup-winning squad led by MS Dhoni. With such substantial rewards, the BCCI continues to celebrate and motivate the national team for their stellar performances on the global stage.
