The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the home schedule for the MasterCard home series against New Zealand, Australia and Sri Lanka. India will be playing a total of 6 T20IS, 9 ODI’s and 4 Test Matches in their home schedule.
All three series include an ODI series, which will help the four teams prepare for the ODI World Cup 2023, which is set to be held in India. The teams that end in the top eight positions of the Super League points table will directly qualify for the marquee event. India being the hosts, has earned them automatic qualification.
Consecutive games at home will help the team understand the conditions and strategize for the ODI World Cup. The Test series against Australia will be of great importance as India aims to make it to the World Test Championship finals. To qualify for the WTC final India needs to win all their remaining Test matches before the final at the Oval in London.
India has a hectic schedule on its hands, given that they will be playing continuously from the 3rd of January until the last week of March, which the Indian Premier League will then follow. The workload management for all players will be crucial as it is a World Cup.

The Sri Lanka series will be followed by a three-match ODI series against New Zealand where Hyderabad, Raipur, and Indore will play hosts. The second ODI on 21st January will be the first ODI for the city of Raipur as they will play host to their first international fixture. India will also play a three-match T20I series against New Zealand.

The Mastercard Australia tour of India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will begin in Nagpur on February 9. India will then play the next three Test matches in Delhi, Dharamshala, and Ahmedabad. This will be the last edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy which will be a 4-match Test series feature.
