The Australian women’s cricket team will tour India for a 5-match T20I series, starting on December 9, with the final T20I scheduled on December 20. It will serve as a preparation keeping in mind the Women’s T20 World Cup to be played in South Africa.
Australia are the defending Champions of the T20 World Cup in 2020 and the 2022 Commonwealth Games holders. The Indian reached the finals against a strong Australian side and would be looking to make it against defending Champions in the five-match T20I series.
The series will be played across two venues in Mumbai. The first two matches will be played at DY Patil Stadium, while the rest will be played at Brabourne Stadium, CCI.
Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the T20I squad that won the Asia Cup title in Bangladesh. The Women in Blue produced a dominating display of cricket winning 7th during the continental championship. Many young and experienced players did a superb job which was held in 20 over format.
Deepti Sharma was the leading wicket-taker while Jemimah Rodrigues showed his skills with the bat. The Indian team would be looking to continue their momentum in the upcoming series against Southern Stars.
The Australian side will be without Meg Lanning who has taken an indefinite break from international. Alyssa Healy is likely to lead the squad as their star batter Racheal Haynes retired last month. All the Australian top players are currently taking part in the Women’s Big Bash League tournament. This would serve as brilliant practice for Australian members on a tough tour of India starting from December 9.

The Indian team performed brilliantly reaching the finals of the 2022 Commonwealth Games. They lost narrowly against Australia as Indian batters collapsed from a winning situation.
