Indian cricket veteran Virat Kohli has been formally invited to attend the Ram Temple Inauguration in Ayodhya on January 22. According to reports from Cricbuzz, Kohli has been granted permission by the BCCI to take a day off from the England Tests’ scheduled camp to be present at the event.
Kohli has joined the list of cricketers invited to the ceremony, with former players such as Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni also receiving invitations. Tendulkar got his invitation at his Mumbai residence on January 13, while Dhoni was invited on January 15.
After the third T20I in Bengaluru against Afghanistan, both players and coaching staff will take a two-day break, with the team management and the Test squad reconvening in Hyderabad on January 20, as stated in the report.
A four-day camp is scheduled prior to the commencement of the first Test against England at Uppal Stadium on January 25. Kohli is set to have a net session on January 21 and will subsequently take a day off to visit Ayodhya.
The approach England is using to prepare for the Tests against India is being questioned
England is scheduled to land in India on January 21, merely three days before the initial Test. Although Ben Stokes and his team will have undergone a preparatory camp in Abu Dhabi prior to their arrival, critics have criticized the visitors for insufficient preparation in the local conditions.
Former England pacer Steve Harmison expressed concern, suggesting that this lack of readiness might result in England facing a 5-0 whitewash by the hosts. On TalkSport, he shared his thoughts:
“If England go in 3 days before, they deserve to get beat 5-0. They really do. I’m an old man, that is what they are going to say, the times have changed, the game has changed, but I tell you, preparation has not changed. You can’t go into India underprepared.”
There is increasing curiosity in the cricketing community about whether the Bazball philosophy will prove effective against Rohit Sharma and his team.
