The Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) is undoubtedly the richest cricket board. The board every year hosts the star-studded Indian Premier League which is a major attraction for the cricketing world. Recently in a conversation, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) chairman Colin Graves explained that BCCI has shown their interest in coming up with their own tournament alike to ‘The Hundred’.

The inaugural tournament of the newest league was slated to be played this year with the participation of top England players. However, the organisers indefinitely postponed the tournament because of the COVID-19 pandemic across the world. The Hundred will now take place during July 2021 next year during the English Summer.

Meanwhile, Graves said that BCCI has been in their continuous touch to know further about the format. The rules of the league are very appealing as a team can only play a maximum of 100 balls in an innings. Moreover, the ends will change post every 10- deliveries.

Moreover, bowlers will bowl either five or 10 continuous deliveries and can deliver up to 20 maximum in the match. Also, the 25-ball powerplay will see only two players outside the 30-yard circle.

Colin Graves maintains that the new format will bring ‘newer audience’ which mainly includes women, children and families. As per ECB, The Hundred holds the potential to bring revenues in ‘millions’ that can help to develop the grassroots game in the English county.

Though the format has drawn a line setting world into two halves, various countries especially India is seeing forward to the same.

“I know that some of the countries abroad, India in particular, are looking at their own. They have been talking to me about it for the last year on a regular basis. So around the world, it has created a lot of excitement”, Graves told Sky Sports.
