The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to show cause veteran wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha over breach of central contract clause. Saha recently went public about his discussions with Board President Sourav Ganguly, head coach Rahul Dravid, and chief selector Chetan Sharma.

The Bengal wicket-keeper is under the spotlight for the last few weeks. Saha was dropped from the Indian team for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka which is set to begin on March 4 in Mohali.

In the wake of it, Wriddhiman Saha in an interview with Sportstar had revealed that Ganguly had told him to not worry about his place in the team till he is the BCCI chief after his fighting knock against New Zealand. The 37-year-old further revealed that head coach Rahul Dravid and chief selector Chetan Sharma had asked him to contemplate retirement.

As the cricketing fraternity continues to dwell over the same, the cricketer is likely to be summoned by BCCI. According to a report by PTI, BCCI will ask Saha to explain his comments as they violate clause 6.3 of BCCI’s central contracts for players.

Clause 6.3 relates to, “Player shall not make any comments about the game, officials, incidents that happened in the game, use of technology, selection matters or any other matter related to the game which is in opinion of the BCCI is adverse to and /or not in the interest of the game, team or BCCI in any media.”

Meanwhile, BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal admitted that BCCI might want to pick Wriddhiman Saha’s brain on why he went public with the dressing room conversations.

“Yes, there is a possibility that BCCI could ask Wriddhiman as to how he spoke on selection matters being a centrally contracted cricketer. As far as the president is concerned, he had tried to motivate him. The board might like to know what made him go public with his dressing room conversations with coach Dravid,” Dhumal said to PTI.

“We haven’t yet decided on the matter. We are all busy but a call will be taken on a few days,” he added.
