BCCI offers a 2-year contract to Rahul Dravid with India U-19 & India A: In what may serve as good news for Indian Cricket fans, one of the greatest players in cricket, Rahul Dravid”s contract has been extended for 2 years. He was made the coach of India A and Under 19 teams in 2015 June.
Rahul who was made the coach of India A and Under 19 teams in 2015 June has done wonders with the India Under 19 team as they reached the finals of World Cup held in Bangladesh last year losing to West Indies. Under his watchful eyes, many young players like Risbabh Pant, Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya have done well and are in the India senior team.
“In Dravid’s contract, there is a line which states the BCCI can give the extension to him. Whereas in [Anil] Kumble’s contract there is no clause of extension. That is why process (to call me applicants) was followed in Kumble’s case,” A BCCI official revealed to The Indian Express. However, the decision has to pass through the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) consisting Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman who are known to have given it a nod. “
“The CAC has approved the two-year extension and now everything depends on money to be paid to Dravid. The earlier contract was for ten months and board paid him more than four crores. Now, a new contract with new salary has to be provided. There is a chance that his appointment would come up at board special general body meeting,” the source confirmed.
Rahul Dravid will be with the India Under 19 squad for a short series against India which includes 2 Test matches and 5 One-day Internationals. It will be a great boost for the Indian team who will play the Under 19 World Cup in 2018.
Risbabh Pant has been included in the five-match ODI series against West Indies starting from 23rd June. Rishab Pant has been under Dravid for a while now, this after he was playing for the India Under-19 squad as well as the Delhi Daredevils franchise.
