The Board of Control for cricket in India (BCCI) has reported that it has ordered the immediate suspension of the current TATA IPL 2025 for a week. After consulting with all key stakeholders of IPL—franchisees, players, broadcast houses, sponsors, and fans, this decision was made by the IPL Governing Council. The Board deemed it sensible to act as the common stakeholder to all the stakeholders due to the current situation.
The decision to suspend the tournament was arrived at based on the recent terrorist attack and the unnecessary attack by the armed forces of Pakistan. The BCCI has shown its solidarity with the Government of India, the armed forces, and the people of our country. The Board congratulates the bravery, valor, and selfless service of our armed forces, who continue to protect and inspire the nation in their heroic endeavor under Operation Sindow.
BCCI Suspends TATA IPL 2025 Due to National Security Concerns
In this critical moment, the BCCI has chosen country above cricket tournament. The Board believes however that cricket is a national passion, and nothing compares to the Nation and its sovereignty, integrity, and security. The BCCI is strongly committed to supporting all action plans that protect India and will always align their decisions for optimal country benefit.
The BCCI has expressed gratitude to its key stakeholders, such as Jiostar, the league’s official broadcaster; TATA, the league title sponsor; and all associate partners, for their understanding and unwavering support. Such stakeholders have risen to show unqualified backing for this decision, ascending national interests over every other consideration.
The BCCI will make further updates on the new calendar and venue schedule of the tournament in due time following a thorough evaluation of the situation that will involve the relevant authorities at hand and the stakeholders themselves. The Board trusts implicitly in the strength and readiness of our armed forces and will not cease to back up their initiatives in the protection of the nation.
