BCCI To Conduct Rohit Sharma’s Fitness Tests At Centre Of Excellence Next Month: Reports

Team India’s ODI skipper Rohit Sharma is set to report at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru on September 13 for a series of fitness assessments, according to a report by the Times of India. Along with the tests, the senior opener will also spend two to three days training at the facility to sharpen his preparations ahead of the Australia tour scheduled in October.

As part of the new regime, Sharma will undergo the recently introduced Bronco test, in addition to the traditional yo-yo test. The Bronco test, commonly used in rugby, has now been adopted by the BCCI as an endurance measure for Indian players. The change was reportedly initiated by the team’s strength and conditioning coach Adrian le Roux, with full backing from head coach Gautam Gambhir.

A BCCI official told the Times of India:

“Yes, Rohit will be at the BCCI’s CoE from September 13 for fitness tests. He will be based here for two-three days and will also practice at the facility to fine-tune his preparations for the Australia white-ball tour in November. With the CoE also staging the Duleep Trophy final at its main ground (A) from September 11-15, Rohit will undergo fitness tests and train at a different ground at the same facility.”

Rohit Sharma Likely To Play For India A In ODI Series Against Australia A

There is growing buzz that India’s ODI captain Rohit Sharma and senior batter Virat Kohli might turn out for India A in the three-match ODI series against Australia A, scheduled at Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium on September 30, October 3, and October 5. The games are being seen as ideal preparation ahead of India’s upcoming tour of Australia.

Both Rohit and Kohli have not featured in competitive cricket since the IPL 2025, with their last appearance for the national side coming in the Champions Trophy final against New Zealand. The star pair stepped away from Test cricket in May and are now focusing solely on ODIs, reportedly with an eye on extending their international careers until the 2027 World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.
