Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Ben Stokes is keenly following the IPL 2021 despite being ruled out of the tournament. He injured his left index finger in Royals’ opening game against Punjab Kings. He took a good catch later in the game but was subsequently ruled out of the season. The Royals are already missing Jofra Archer who is recovering from his elbow injury. Stokes’ absence comes as another big blow to the Royals. He is set to be ruled out for 12 weeks from the game.

Mesnwhile, in the ongoing match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Mumbai,  Ben Stokes responded to Sunil Gavaskar’s insensible comment during Punjab’s innings.

The incident occurred in the 11th over of Punjab Kings’ innings when captain KL Rahul was on strike and Kagiso Rabada was coming into bowl. Rabada went for two sixes as Mayank Agarwal hit those cleanly and the speedster then delivered a short ball to Rahul, who crafted a hook shot over the backward square region. Sunil Gavaskar, the commentator, said, “Such a poor bouncer, if you want to bowl a bouncer it must be over Off Stump, and the replay said “bouncer line directly over Off Stump,”

Replaying to Gavaskar’s comments on Twitter Ben Stokes pointed out the mistake in the way he explained the delivery. “Commentator: “Such a poor bouncer,if you want to bowl a bouncer it must be over Off Stump” REPLAY: bouncer line directly over Off Stump” said Stokes.

Meanwhile, Punjab on the back of KL Rahul (61) and Mayank Agarwal (69) 122-run opening stand posted a score of 195/4 after their 20 overs. Deepak Hooda’s 22 and Shahrukh Khan’s 15 powered them to over 190 at the end of their batting stint.

The ECB has said in a statement that the all-rounder will travel back to Leeds on Monday after which he will undergo a surgery. The board further said that he is out of action for 12 weeks. Stokes’ replacement is yet to be confirmed by the Royals.
