“Best Time To Beat Them” – Oman Captain Ahead Of AUS vs OMA T20 2026

Oman skipper Jatinder Singh feels his team has a strong chance to stun former champions Australia national cricket team in their final group-stage fixture of the 2026 T20 World Cup. The two sides are set to face each other for just the second time in international cricket in Pallekele on Friday, February 20.

Australia, known as the Men in Yellow, have already suffered a surprising exit from the tournament after defeats to Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka, despite beginning their campaign with a win over Ireland. Oman, on the other hand, has struggled in Group B, losing all three of their matches.

However, their captain remained confident about taking advantage of an Australian side low on morale, stating (via ESPN Cricinfo):

“One hundred percent this is an opportunity. And our boys are looking forward to it. Because T20 is a game of momentum and the moments, and if you play those moments right, you can do anything on that particular day.”

”Australia is not doing well at the moment… it is the best time to crush them. The boys are really positive. They are looking forward to the match against Australia to make their mark.”

Have Australia and Oman met in international cricket?

Australia national cricket team and Oman national cricket team have met just once in international cricket, during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup held in the West Indies and the USA. Both sides were placed in Group B and clashed on a sluggish surface in Barbados. Oman impressed early on by limiting Australia to 164/5 in their 20 overs.

David Warner anchored the innings with 56 off 51 balls, while Marcus Stoinis provided a late surge, smashing an unbeaten 67 from 36 deliveries. However, Oman struggled in the chase and managed only 125/9, going down by 39 runs.

Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, and Nathan Ellis claimed two wickets apiece, while Stoinis capped off a superb all-round display with figures of 3/19. Oman exited in the group stage, whereas Australia were knocked out in the Super Eights after losses to Afghanistan national cricket team and India national cricket team.
