Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s snub from the Indian Test squad for the World Test Championship final and the subsequent England tour has led to media house writing about his disinterest in the format. He last played Test cricket for India in 2018 against South Africa. After which injuries have plagued his Test career to a large extent. Meanwhile, at the same time, he has become a far better bowler in white-ball format for India playing ODIs and T20Is.
A report in Times of India stated that Bhuvneshwar Kumar has lost his willingness to play Test cricket and has also made changes to his fitness routine according to the same. Meanwhile, Bhuvi has played 21 Tests overall and five in England taking 19 wickets. He also scored three fifties during the series, aggregating 247 runs. In 2018, he missed the tour due to injury and since then he hasn’t played a single Test match.
Meanwhile, in a tweet, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has quashed reports of him being disinterested in playing Test cricket saying that he is willing to play all three formats despite team selection worries. He further asked the sources and not write based on self-made assumptions.
“There have been articles about me not wanting to play Test cricket. Just to clarify, I have always prepared myself for all three formats irrespective of the team selection and will continue to do the same. Suggestion – please don’t write your assumptions based on “sources”! wrote Bhuvi in his tweet.

While it was widely reported that Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s return to the longest format is on the cards, the selectors didn’t think so. Instead, they showed trust in the likes of Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur along with Mohammed Shami, Bumrah, and Ishant Sharma.
The Indian pace attack in recent years has gone from strength to strength. The attack has a lot more depth and variety along with the experience of Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav.
