BCCI CEO Rahul will travel to Jamaica for the fifth ODI and one T20 to ask the Indian captain Virat Kohli who should become India’s next coach.

Rahul Johri will arrive in at Jamaica today and then ask Virat Kohli, teammates about the coach and who should be other staffs with the coach. India has gone without a coach for the current tour of West Indies. Ravi Shastri is the front runner to become the Indian team next coach and their rapport between each other is great.

“Yes, Rahul has left for Jamaica with permission of the Committee of Administrators (COA). He has been instructed with the task of getting feedback from the captain and the team. The team’s feedback will then be passed to the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) to take all parameters into account,” a BCCI official to PTI.

BCCI appointed Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, Sachin Tendulkar as Cricket Advisory Committee. They selected Anil Kumble last June. The CAC will conduct the interview on 10th July for the selected candidates in Mumbai.

“Venkatesh Prasad’s CV is not there among those who have applied for the coach’s post. He is working as the chairman of selectors with the junior team. We don’t know who spread the news. Venky on his part never confirmed that he has applied for the job,” said the source.

Virat Kohli and the Indian team were in favor of Ravi Shastri of becoming India’s coach. But last year, the CAC appointed Anil Kumble. Apart from this, Virender Sehwag, Lalchand Rajput, Richard Pybus, Tom Moody applied for team India’s coach. Now with Virat Kohli wanting Ravi Shastri as the next coach, it will be interesting to see if CAC will listen to the Indian captain.
