Naresh Tumda is plunged into misery as he has been left with no choice but to sell vegetables. Apart from that, the Blind Cricket World cup winner also does labor work owing to lockdowns introduced during the covid-19 pandemic.
Tumda hails from Navsari in Gujarat. He was part of the team that defeated Pakistan at Sharjah in the 2018 World Cup final. Following the victory, Tumda had underlined the plight of the blind cricketers even after winning such a prestigious event.
“When the Indian cricket team wins the World Cup, the government and corporations rain money on them. Are we lesser sportsmen because we are blind? Society should treat us equally,” Naresh Tumda had stated.

Twitterati is trying to start a fundraiser to support Naresh Tumda
The plight of the 29-yer-old Naresh Tumda was revealed on Twitter by a user. Following the tweet, several people called for a fundraiser in order to help the cricketer in these terrible times.
The call to do so comes after Tumda was rejected from several government jobs over the last couple of years. Despite winning the trophy for India, he is still struggling to find work in the government. As a result, the cricketer is in dire straits owing to a lack of basic human needs.
In the final game that was held at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Pakistan was sent in to bat first by India. They posted a mammoth total of 308 in their 40 overs. It was a tricky chase but India managed to chase it down in 38.2 overs with just two wickets remaining.
