One Chennai Super Kings cricketer and 12 support staffs have tested COVD-19 positive ahead of the start of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League. A report in India Today suggests that the cricketer is a fast bowler and other’s are part of the support staff and social media team.

While CSK or the BCCI is yet to confirm the developments, sources say the members of the support staff and the social media team might have contracted the virus during their camp in Chennai.

Incidentally, MS Dhoni-led side held camp in Chennai for five days before leaving for the UAE. All the top Indian cricketers including Dhoni himself attended the camp at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Meanwhile, all the members, who have tested positive have been isolated. They are currently stable and doing well. The Super Kings are following all safety protocols, as per the directions of the health officials the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) SOPs.

Meanwhile, Chennai completed their mandatory six-day quarantine; however, they didn’t begin their training. On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kings XI Punjab, Rajasthan Royals have already resumed practice.

The entire CSK squad has gone into quarantine at the hotel they are put up in Dubai. It is likely that they will resume training from the first week of September.

The 13th edition of the cash-rich league will start from September 19 and will run until November 10. This will be the first time in the history that the grand finale will take place on a weekday. The cricketers will remain in a bio-secure bubble throughout the tournament keeping the COVID-19 in mind.
