Chetan Sakariya Added To The BCCI’s Roster Of Players Under Scrutiny For Their Bowling Actions- Reports

Chetan Sakariya, the left-arm pacer from India, is one of seven players on the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI’s) list for suspect bowling actions. While the 25-year-old isn’t currently facing a ban, there seems to be a lack of awareness about the situation.

The Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) and sources close to the player reportedly expressed unawareness about Sakariya being included in the BCCI’s suspect bowling action list, as per a Cricbuzz report.

Delhi Capitals (DC) recently let go of Sakariya, who had a brief stint with the franchise, making just five appearances since joining in 2022. He is now open for bids from franchises at the upcoming 2024 IPL mini-auction, having set a base price of ₹50 Lakh.

In addition to the left-arm pacer, six other players are being monitored for their bowling actions: Rohan Kunnummal, Chirag Gandhi, Salman Nizar, Saurabh Dubey, and Arpit Guleria.

Guleria gained attention by taking eight wickets in the Vijay Hazare match against Gujarat and has enlisted himself for the upcoming IPL mini-auction.

Sakariya has represented India in a single ODI and two T20Is

Chetan Sakariya gained recognition through an impressive performance with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) during the 2021 IPL season. Making his debut at the Wankhede Stadium, the left-arm pacer took 3-31 and concluded the season with 14 wickets in 14 matches, maintaining an economy of 8.14.

His impressive performances earned him a call-up to the senior national team. He joined the second-string side that toured Sri Lanka in 2021 for a white-ball series, making three appearances despite the COVID-related challenges.

Since then, he has been involved with the Indian team as a net bowler, notably during the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia. Currently, he is out of action due to a stress fracture in his back, and his most recent participation was in the 2023 IPL.

Despite sitting out two white-ball domestic competitions, the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) is optimistic about his recuperation for the forthcoming Ranji Trophy season.
