Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara is all set to don the Chennai Super Kings jersey. he is making a comeback into the IPL after 2014, when he last played for Kings XI Punjab. He is all excited to play under MS Dhoni, under whom he made his Test debut for Team India. T20 cricket is not Pujara’s cup of tea but the Test specialist is trying to make up for it as much as possible in his practice sessions with the franchise. He said that he is looking forward to some help from the team management to better his game.

In an exclusive interview to ESPN Cricinfo, he spoke about polishing his T20 game and preparing himself mentally for the upcoming season.

“I have played limited-overs cricket in domestic cricket [in India] as well in county cricket. Just by playing those matches you realise what you can do in a particular situation. So that is something which can be helpful, because you need to understand what a bowler is trying to do, how the pitch is behaving, and what the shots are that you can play on a particular pitch,” Pujara told ESPNCricinfo.

Cheteshwar Pujara signing up with CSK in the IPL season was welcomed with open arms by the cricketing fraternity. This games the Indian test specialist an opportunity to add another aide to his overall game, one which is more attacking and aggressive.

Pujara further opened up on his power-hitting and how he would like to discover this side of his game in the season.

When it comes to strike rate, yes, I agree that I’m not a power-hitter. But at the same time, you learn from players like Virat [Kohli]. Rohit [Sharma], he is not purely a power-hitter, but he is one of the best timers of the ball I have seen in the shorter formats,” he added.
