According to Sanjay Bharadwaj, Gautam Gambhir’s childhood coach, the recently appointed head coach of India can make the art of consistently winning a unique style if he understands his capacity to mobilize the best out of the cricketers during pressure moments.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India, BCCI, announced on Tuesday that Gautam Gambhir has officially become the new head coach of the India cricket team, replacing Rahul Dravid. Following his final stint, which ended with the T20 World Cup 2024 title, Dravid bid adieu to the team.
It has been earlier informed that Dravid had informed ahead of the T20 World Cup that he would not be renewing his contract after the ICC Competition.
“Gautam has the quality to bring the best out of his players. The job of a top coach is precisely that. Gauti knows his players well and can bring the best out of them, using them effectively,” Sanjay Bharadwaj said.
“I feel, as a coach, he can take India to the pinnacle. He can do the job honestly without any bias and bring the best to Indian cricket. The (ODI) World Cup title which has eluded us for the last 13 years would now start coming,” Bhardwaj told PTI Videos on Wednesday.
“He has played with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma”- Childhood Coach Gautam Gambhir
Gautam Gambhir’s childhood coach, Sanjay Bharadwaj, also added more to this, saying that while the India captain went through rough times before the Australian series, Gambhir had seen Rohit Sharma’s comeback.
“He has played with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the past. Long back, he had once given his ‘Man of the Match’ to Virat. That shows his golden heart. He told me long ago that Rohit Sharma would become a great player one day. This was when Rohit was not among the runs and needed some encouragement. His observation about Rohit proved accurate,” he said.
Sources suggest that the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) of the BCCI had a meeting with Gautam Gambhir and WV Raman last month. His latest assignment was to lead KKR to its third IPL triumph in 2024.
