Gautam Gambhir Eyes Former Mumbai Indians Star For Assistant Coach Role – Reports

According to a report, Gautam Gambhir, the newly appointed head coach of the Indian cricket team, is considering former international player Abhishek Nayar for the role of assistant coach. Gambhir and Nayar previously collaborated during the tenure of the IPL 2024 season, playing crucial roles in leading the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to victory.

During this era, Gambhir served the team’s mentor, while Nayar was the assistant coach. Additionally, Nayar, a former member for the Mumbai Indians, holds the post of director on the KKR Academy. The document suggests that Gambhir needs for Nayar to enroll in him as part of the Indian cricket team’s help team of staff. The Bengali newspaper Aajkal reported that Gambhir and Nayar had a verbal agreement all through their tenure with KKR, indicating that Nayar is likely to follow Gambhir after his appointment as the pinnacle coach of Team India.

Jay Shah said: “It is with immense pleasure that I welcome Mr @GautamGambhir as the new Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team. Modern-day cricket has evolved rapidly, and Gautam has witnessed this changing landscape up close. Having endured the grind and excelled in various roles throughout his career, I am confident that Gautam is the ideal person to steer Indian Cricket forward. His clear vision for #TeamIndia, coupled with his vast experience, positions him perfectly to take on this exciting and most sought-after coaching role. The @BCCI fully supports him as he embarks on this new journey.”

Jay Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), introduced on Tuesday that former cricketer Gautam Gambhir has been appointed as the new head coach of the Indian men’s cricket group. Shah made this assertion on his reputable X account, expressing his complete self assurance in Gambhir’s skills and declaring that Gambhir is the right person to steer Indian cricket forward.

This appointment follows the realization of Rahul Dravid’s tenure as the head coach of Team India, which ended after the very last match of the T20 World Cup 2024. In this match, India defeated South Africa by way of 7 runs, securing the prestigious trophy for the first time in 17 years.
