Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Virat Kohli has delightfully requested Chris Gayle to return to the Indian Premier League (IPL) as an impact player next year. Gayle was in the stands on Saturday, May 18, at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, alongside other notable names such as Smriti Mandhana and Anushka Sharma, when RCB met CSK in the IPL 2024.

Fans’ emotions were strong when Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) unexpectedly guaranteed a spot in the IPL 2024 playoffs. The team’s victory over the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by more than eighteen runs in a game that was close to being a washout was nothing short of spectacular.

RCB’s incredible journey to the postseason was largely fueled by resilience and grit. They had lost a string of games, winning only one of their first eight, and it seemed as though the deck was set against them.

However, in a remarkable display of tenacity, RCB defeated all the odds to win their final six games.

After their victory over Chennai Super Kings on Saturday, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru team, which included star batsman Virat Kohli, had a touching reunion with the “Universe Boss” and franchise legend Chris Gayle.

On Monday, a video of Gayle chatting with RCB players, including Virat, was uploaded on the team’s official Instagram account. Virat made a joke about Gayle joining the squad again the next season as an “Impact Player” during their talk.

“Come back next year, Impact Player is on. You do not have to field no more. It is designed for you,” said Virat.

Gayle amassed 3,163 runs at an average of 43.33 and a strike rate of over 152 in 85 matches for the RCB between 2011 and 2017, including five hundreds and 19 fifties. His highest rating is 175*. He shares the RCB Hall of Fame with Vinay Kumar and AB de Villiers.
