Indian cricketers’ love for the game of football is well known. Recently, right-hand batsman Shreyas Iyer played a charity football match in Mumbai.

The match also featured celebrities from the cricket field as well as from the acting Industry. The likes of former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, filmstar Ranveer Singh, Karan Wahi were spotted alongside Shreyas Iyer.

Shreyas Iyer shared a series of pictures from the match on his Instragam profile. He captioned the post as, “Ballin’ with these ballers.”

The post was received well by the fans who were overjoyed to see their favourite stars playing football. India’s skipper Virat Kohli too reacted to the post on Instagram. He wrote, “Count me in next time we’re in town.”

Virat Kohli is in England currently to play a five-match test series against the hosts, starting from August 4. The Indian skipper is a huge football enthusiast. He also co-owns the Football Club Goa team in the Indian Super League.

All-rounder Vijay Shankar also commented on Shreyas Iyer’s Instagram post. He wrote, “Nice Gary.”

Shreyas Iyer missed the first phase of the Indian Premier League 2021 due to injury. He sustained a shoulder injury during India’s home ODI series against England in March. The right-hander underwent surgery and is in the process to attain full fitness.

Earlier this month, Iyer was ruled out of his Royal London One-Day Cup stint with Lancashire. He recently started training at the indoor BKC facility in Mumbai with Pravin Amre, the assistant coach of the Capitals.  The Delhi Capitals skipper is likely to be available for the second phase of IPL 2021, which starts from September 19 in the UAE.
