Cricket Australia appoints new ODI captain for South Africa series

After a dismal show in the recently concluded test series, the kangaroos failed miserably even in the T20I series against Pakistan. The presence of power hitters hasn”t helped the side much as they had no clue to the deliveries of Imad Wasim.

Cricket Australia has now announced the squad for the ODI sores against Proteas starting next week. Aaron Finch has been handed over the captaincy with Alex Carey and Josh Hazelwood as his deputies.

Tim Paine and his deputy Mitchell Marsh were both axed from the Australia ODI squad.

Star all-rounder Maxwell makes his comeback and despite his poor run in test series, Shaun Marsh has also been included in the squad.  The side receives a big boost as their star trio Starc, Hazelwood and Cummins are named in the list. This will be their first appearance in the international colours since the month of February.

Mitchell Marsh and Nathan Lyon weren”t named and this gives them some time to prepare for the rest series against India. The spin department now rests with Agar and Zampa and with enough assistance from Maxwell can solve their issues.

The series will certainly be a clash of young talents who are looking to cement their spots for 2019 World Cup. With the absence of stars like ABD, Warner and Smith, it will really be a herculean task for both the sides to come out on the top.

The three-match ODI series commences on November 4.
