The International Cricket Council (ICC) is yet to decide on the future of the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia later this year. With the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the fate hangs by the wire. But legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar believes the decision rests on Cricket Australia (CA) whether they want to host the T20 World Cup.

Previously, reports suggest that CA has informed ICC about their inability to host the mega event. As a result, ICC was pondering a move to postpone the tournament. But things have changed a lot in the past few days with the COVID-19 curve flattening in Australia. The government in the country has also allowed 25 percent crowd to watch the games.

In the wake of the recent developments, Sachin Tendulkar believes CA will take the final decision on the T20 World Cup. As per schedule, October 18 marks the start of the global competition with West Indies defending the title.

“If we speak about the T20 (World Cup), I feel it is the decision of the Australian Board whether they will be able to conduct the tournament,” Tendulkar told Aaj Tak channel.

Speaking further, Sachin Tendulkar opined that the stakeholders need to consider the financial aspect with great seriousness. The batting maestro also welcomed the decision to resume cricket. England and West Indies lock horn in a three-match Test series in ‘bio-secure’ environment starting in July.

“I am very happy. England is playing their Test match against West Indies from July 8, so slowly the vehicle is coming on the track, which is a good thing,” Tendulkar added.

However, the situation in India is very grim with the number of positive cases spiking up rapidly with each passing day. BCCI has reportedly said that they will resume business only when things get back to normal.
