Cricketers Mourn The Death Of Legendary Singer Lata Mangeshkar

Melody Queen of India Lata Mangeshkar breathed her last on Sunday in Mumbai. She was 92 years old. The playback singer had been hospitalised on January 8 following a diagnosis of pneumonia and Covid-19.

Although she recovered from both illnesses, she continued to be under observation at the hospital. Mangeshkar’s condition had improved in January and she was taken off the ventilator but her health deteriorated on Saturday.

Lata Mangeshkar is a recipient of the Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke awards.

Condolences poured in for the legendary singer soon after the news of her demise came, with several cricketers remembering the singing legend and paying her tribute in their own way.

“Deeply saddened to hear about the demise of Lata ji. Her melodious songs touched millions of people around the world. Thank you for all the music and the memories. My deepest condolences to the family & the loved ones,” Virat Kohli wrote on Twitter.

Here are some of the reactions:

Lata Mangeshkar career spanned over 80 years and she sang more than 5,000 songs in 36 Indian languages. From Madhubala to Madhuri Dixit, she lent her voice to all leading actresses in the country.
