- 2015 World Cup Quarter finals
India and Bangladesh met in the 2nd quarter finals of the World Cup 2015 held at Australia and New Zealand. This match took place at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground on 19th March 2015. During that match, India won the toss and elected to bat first. The openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma added 75 runs for the first wicket before Dhawan was dismissed 30. Virat Kohli, Ajiyanka Rahane could not contribute much to the team’s cause.
Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina put on 122 runs for the fourth wicket. Rohit Sharma completed his century in 108 balls while Raina made his 50 in 46 balls. Sharma was dismissed for 137. Ravindra Jadeja scored a quick fire 23 in 10 balls to help India post 302 for 6 in 50 overs.
Chasing the target of 303, Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes added 33 runs for the first wicket in 6.3 overs before Bangladesh lost 2 quick wickets in succession. All the batsmen got starts but was not able convert into big total. Bangladesh were bowled out for 193 in 45 overs to hand India a massive 109 runs win and qualify for the semi-finals. Umesh Yadav was the pick of bowlers for India taking 4 for 31.
