India and Pakistan played in the Super Six stage of the 1999 World Cup played at Old Trafford, Manchester on 8th June. Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin won the toss and decided to bat first. Sachin Tendulkar 45, Rahul Dravid 61, Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin 59 helped India post 227 for 6 in 50 overs.
Defending the target of 228 runs to win, it was a brilliant bowling effort by the Indian bowlers. Venkatesh Prasad was the pick of bowlers with 5 for 27 and Javgal Srinath 3 for 37 helped them to bowl out Pakistan for 180 in 45.3 overs. India won the match by 47 runs.
