India started their World Cup campaign with a victory as they defeated South Africa by six wickets. Rohit Sharma”s long stay at the crease ensured a win for the side and it is still applauded by many on the social media platforms.
Though everything was fine from the performance point of view, ICC doesn”t seem to be satisfied with one aspect which deserved attention during the game. Mahendra Singh Dhoni was spotted wearing gloves which had the symbol of “Balidan”.
This symbol signifies that the person is a part of Indian Special Forces. It is to be noted that Dhoni was offered the position of honorary colonel lieutenant in the year 2011. He had also undergone the training for the under para brigade in 2015.
The recent statement from ICC has revealed that it conducted some talks with the BCCI on the same and asked Dhoni to remove the symbol from the gloves.
According to Claire Furlong, the Strategic Communications” General Manager of ICC, “We have requested the BCCI to get it removed”.
The ICC conventions don”t allow a player to sport something on his jersey or accessories that relates to any political, racial and religious activity.
Dhoni has always displayed his love for the Indian army by sporting shirts and trousers relating to camouflage for a long time.
However, the on-field display of the symbol has been the first of its kind. He even sported gloves in camouflage colours in the past. Dhoni has immense love for the Indian Armed Forces and by such deeds, he never fails to win our hearts.
The wicketkeeper-batsman will play its next game for India on Sunday. Indian side who carry a tag of favourites entering into the tournament will play a quality Australian side. Let”s see how does that impact Indian cricket.
