CWC19: Rishabh Pant reveals about his dream on Chahal TV

Rishabh Pant”s episode in Indian cricket has always been a special one. After ending up as runners up in the under19 World Cup 2016, his efforts to turn into an indispensable asset has always been a successful one.

He started playing well in the cash-rich Indian Premier League for the Delhi side for some time now and his performances down the order have always paid dividends for the franchise. As time passed, he earned caps for the Indian side in all three formats of the game.

Last week, he was called as a cover for Dhawan who injured his left thumb during the game against Australia. He kept on participating in the team sessions and the videos kept circulating in the social media too. Two days ago, it was confirmed that Dhawan”s injury would be taking some time to heal and Pant has been named as his replacement.

It has been a moment to rejoice for the youngster who was always looking forward to making his entry to the big stage. In a recent interview, to Chahal on BCCI.tv, he was seen sharing his thoughts and how he felt when he was excluded from the initial squad for the World Cup.

Rishabh Pant said “When I didn”t get selected, I thought maybe I didn”t do something right, So I became more positive and focused on how to improve myself. Then I did well in the IPL. Then I kept practising.”

“It is one dream for all to make India win. When I came to know that I have been called to England as a back-up, my mother was with me. So I told her, she went to the temple and paid her offerings. As a cricketer, I always wanted to play a World Cup and perform there and now that I have got this opportunity, I am feeling very happy,” Pant told Yuzvendra Chahal in the video posted by BCCI.

Rishabh Pant proved his class in overseas conditions as he registered centuries in longest formats of the game recently. This really gave him confidence and the board wasn”t sure if there”s a need for his inclusion in limited formats. They kept on trying Dinesh Karthik and Pant in consecutive series and now, both of them are in the squad.
