The Caribbeans are facing a tough time right now. Barring their first game against Pakistan, they haven”t been at their brutal best like they used to be in limited overs.

Their star player Andre Russell was already ruled out owing to several problems related to the knee. They have now been out of semi-final race as they lost 5 games in the tournament. Adding an insult to the injury, there”s other news that would upset their camp.

West Indies middle order batsman Carlos Braithwaite has been fined for expressing dissent over umpire”s decision against India game yesterday. Braithwaite was not satisfied with the umpire”s decision of declaring a wide ball in the 42nd over of the game.

As a result of the gesture, he has now been fined 15% of his match fee. Additionally, one demerit point is also added into his account, which upon accumulation might lead to a one-game suspension.

Braithwaite admitted to the offence and hence no formal hearing was needed for the same. The issue has been considered as a violation of ICC code of conduct 2.8 which explains the case of showing dissent to umpire”s decision on the field.

Braithwaite played a humongous knock against the Kiwis but that wasn”t enough to take his side home. West Indies side still has two games to play in this tournament, Srilanka and Afghanistan. They will be hoping to finish the season on a high note after a dismal display of their performances.
