“Daal Roti Nahi Chalti”- Vikas Kohli’s Cryptic Post Fuels Fresh Virat Kohli Debate

As Virat Kohli prepares to return to India’s ODI setup for the upcoming series against New Zealand, a social media post from his brother Vikas Kohli has stirred discussion online. Without naming anyone directly, Vikas shared a sharp, cryptic message that many fans felt was aimed at critics questioning Virat’s career choices.

“SEEMS LIKE LOGON KI DAAL ROTI NAHI CHALTI. BINA VIRAT KOHLI KA NAAM LIYE HUE (It seems like people cannot run their houses without taking Virat Kohli’s name).”

The timing of the post made it clear why it caught attention. In recent days, Virat once again became a hot topic after comments from former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar, who openly questioned Kohli’s decision to step away from Test cricket while continuing in ODIs. Though Vikas did not specify any individual, fans widely interpreted his words as a firm response to that criticism.

What Sanjay Manjrekar Had To Say

Manjrekar, speaking on his Instagram account, shared his disappointment over Virat’s exit from Test cricket. He compared Kohli’s decision with the continued success of modern greats like Joe Root, Steve Smith, and Kane Williamson, who are still making strong contributions in the longest format.

He felt that Virat Kohli, instead of retiring, could have worked harder to address the issues that affected his Test form over the last few years. Manjrekar also expressed that Kohli’s decision to continue playing ODIs disappointed him more, calling it the “easiest format” for a top-order batter. His remarks quickly spread across social media, dividing opinions among fans and experts alike.

Kohli’s ODI Form Sends A Strong Message

While debates continue off the field, Virat Kohli’s bat has been doing most of the talking. Over the last few months, he has enjoyed an outstanding run in one-day cricket, entering the new year in what many are calling a rich purple patch. Playing for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Kohli dominated attacks with remarkable consistency.

He struck a classy 131 off 101 balls against Andhra and followed it up with a fluent 77 off 61 deliveries versus Gujarat, underlining his hunger for runs even at 37.

Now set to lead India’s charge in the three-match ODI series starting 11 January in Vadodara, Kohli is also closing in on major milestones. He needs just 42 runs to surpass Kumar Sangakkara as the second-highest run-scorer in international cricket and 94 runs to overtake Sachin Tendulkar as India’s top ODI run-getter against New Zealand.
