Danish Kaneria Alleges Discrimination In Pakistan, Claims Career Was Ruined

Former Pakistani cricketer Danish Kaneria has claimed that he was subjected to severe discrimination in Pakistan, which ultimately ruined his career. Speaking at the Congressional Briefing on the ‘Plight of Minorities in Pakistan,’ Kaneria emphasized that he did not receive the same level of respect and recognition as others.

He stated that the purpose of the event was to shed light on the discrimination minorities face in Pakistan and to urge the global community, particularly the United States, to take action against such injustices. Kaneria, who played 61 Test matches for Pakistan and remains the country’s highest wicket-taking spinner with 261 wickets, is the second Hindu cricketer to represent Pakistan after Anil Dalpat.

Raising Awareness on Human Rights Violations

Kaneria was among several individuals at the event who shared their experiences of being discriminated against in Pakistan. He pointed out that others in attendance also spoke about the ill-treatment they had suffered. The event aimed to inform the international community, especially the United States, about the challenges minorities face in Pakistan.

A video shared from the event showed Kaneria reiterating his stance and calling for increased awareness and intervention to protect minority rights. His statements have reignited discussions about religious discrimination in Pakistan’s cricketing and broader social landscape.

US Congressman Calls for Action Against Pakistan

Indian-American US Congressman Shri Thanedar also participated in the event and strongly condemned human rights violations against Hindu minorities in Pakistan. He urged the US government to impose economic sanctions on Pakistan until these injustices cease. Thanedar highlighted serious issues such as forced religious conversions and kidnappings of Hindu individuals.

He called on the US State Department to not only condemn these acts but also implement concrete measures to pressure Pakistan into ensuring the safety and rights of its minority communities. Stressing the urgency of the situation, he insisted that mere words of condemnation were not enough and that strict actions, including economic sanctions, should be enforced to bring about real change.

Kaneria’s allegations and the discussions at the Congressional Briefing have once again brought the plight of minorities in Pakistan to the forefront, emphasizing the need for global intervention and accountability.
