Australian batter David Warner has been ruled out of the ongoing second Test match against India at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi after suffering a concussion. He was hit on the head while batting during the first day’s play. Matt Renshaw has been named as the concussion substitute for the Australian opener.
David Warner did not have a great outing in the first innings. He managed 15 runs off 44 deliveries, with three boundaries. The left-hander was dismissed by Mohammed Shami, who induced an edge with an outswinger. During his knock, he was hit on the elbow by Mohammed Siraj, and then twice on the helmet. Warner continued batting after the blows, however, he did not come out to field later in the day.
Cricket Australia confirmed that David Warner has been ruled out and Matt Renshaw will be his concussion substitute. Renshaw was in the XI for the first test which Australia lost by an innings and 132 runs. He scored a duck and two runs in the two innings. The 26-year-old was replaced by Travis Head in the XI for the second Test match.
“David Warner is set to miss the rest of the second Test with concussion, paving the way for Matthew Renshaw’s return to the XI,” they wrote on Twitter.

David Warner’s lean patch in India continues
Australian opener David Warner has struggled to score runs in Test matches in India. He has managed scores of 1, 10, and 15 in the ongoing Border Gavaskar series so far. In 10 Tests in India, the left-hander has scored 414 runs at an average of 21.78, with three half-centuries.
Talking about the second Test, Australia managed to put on 263 runs on the board in the first innings. Usman Khawaja scored 81 runs, while Peter Handscomb contribute 72 runs. Skipper Pat Cummins also played a fine hand of 33 runs to take their team to a respectable total on day one.
