David Warner Takes A Playful Dig At Glenn Maxwell’s Mega IPL Deal

Glenn Maxwell was ecstatic after the Royal Challengers Bangalore acquired him in the IPL auction. The swashbuckling Australia all-rounder was bought by RCB for a whopping 14.25 crores. Now after Maxwell got yet another mega-deal in the IPL auction his Australia teammate David Warner took a whimsical dig at him.

During the first T20I between New Zealand and Australia, Warner was spotted commentating for Fox Cricket. As usual, Warner was at his best with his witty replies and didn’t forget to mention Maxwell’s huge sum of Rs. 14.25 that he got in the IPL auction. Warner hilariously trolled Maxwell by jokingly saying that he was surprised with the price tag that RCB gave him after he was released by Punjab Kings ahead of the auction.

While RCB always wanted Maxwell in their side for his ability to go after the bowlers from the outset in the middle overs. The franchise even released the behind the scenes of how they planned to buy Maxwell for a huge amount in the auction.

Coming back to Warner, he and Mark Waugh had some fun in the commentary box as they spoke about how Maxwell got a big contract even after not succeeding with the bat in the last IPL season.

Here is the amusing conversation between them

“Not a bad result in the IPL auction for the ‘Big Show’ either”, David Warner was heard as saying in the commentary box.

“Considering his last IPL season”, quipped Waugh in the commentary box.

“It’s surprising, you get let go from your franchise and you get a lot more after being released. We know what he’s capable of, and I’m sure there’s a bit of expectation but I’m sure he’ll deliver”, concluded Warner.
