David Warner’s Amusing Reaction To Ishan Kishan’s Failed Attempt At Exploiting Cricket’s Loopholes

In a thrilling encounter between India and Australia, the Chepauk stadium in Chennai witnessed a moment of amusement as David Warner mocked Ishan Kishan’s sly attempt to earn a free DRS.

He was able to get a sharp spin on the second ball of the over that missed Warner’s bat by a stunner. Yadav and Kishan went up in appeal, but Kishan whipped the bails off the stumps at the very last moment.

When the umpire displayed a low interest in the caught behind the appeal, the Indian team emphasized there was a stumping as well, asking for a third umpire to review. Australia had previously introduced this strategy of appealing for stumping to cross-check the umpire in reviewing for other methods of dismissal as well, thereby preventing the team the risk of wasting a DRS review.

The incident occurred during the 19th over of the Australian innings when Kuldeep Yadav was bowling to David Warner

However, the square-leg umpire denied the request, as replays later showed that Warner’s foot was firmly grounded all along the crease, making the stumping impossible.

While the Indian team huddled in the middle of the pitch, seemingly waiting for the third-umpire replays on the big screen, the players were left befuddled by the umpire’s denial of the request.

Meanwhile, David Warner couldn’t help but break out in laughter at the skipper and keeper’s cheeky attempt to exploit another of cricket’s loopholes. However, Kuldeep Yadav ultimately discharged Warner for a 31-ball 23 innings.

India seized control of the game midway through the first innings, whittling the Australian side down to 128/4 after 26 overs. Hardik Pandya was the key precursor of collapse for the hosts as he sent back the Australian top three within 15 balls of getting the Kookaburra in his hand, triggering a defeat from 68/0 to 85/3.

The vice-skipper made the game even more severe, but there were also several spotlight-making happenings dispersed throughout the match, as is usual in affairs between the two sides.

Despite India’s victory, the moment of amusement provided by Warner’s reaction to Kishan’s failed attempt at earning a free DRS has become a hot topic on social media, with fans sharing their opinions on the incident. Cricket enthusiasts have praised Warner’s sportsmanship while also acknowledging the tactics employed by both teams to gain an advantage.
