Chennai Super Kings veteran Harbhajan Singh has pulled himself out of IPL 2020 in the UAE owing to personal reasons. In the wake of the development, former India cricketer Deep Dasgupta has named Jalaj Saxena as an ideal replacement for Harbhajan.

Meanwhile, after a lot of speculation Harbhajan Singh pulled out of IPL 2020 owing to personal reasons. The veteran spinner didn’t attend the camp in Chennai and also didn’t fly with the team on August 21. Reports stated that he might join the squad on the first week of September but the cricketer took to Twitter to share that he won’t be a part of IPL 2020.

“Dear Friends I will not be playing IPL this year due to personal reasons. These are difficult times and I would expect some privacy as I spend time with my family. @ChennaiIPL

CSK management has been extremely supportive and I wish them a great IPL Stay safe and Jai Hind,” Harbhajan wrote on Twitter.

Deep Dasgupta picks Jalaj Saxena as replacement for Harbhajan

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings are yet to announce the replacement of Harbhajan Singh. Former India wicket-keeper batsman Deep Dasgupta believes CSK should opt for all-rounder Jalaj Saxena as Harbhajan’s replacement.

“I think Jalaj Saxena deserves a place, he’s a good enough all-rounder. I think they might look at him, he’s a very good option for Bhajji’s replacement,” Deep Dasgupta told ESPNCricinfo.

Jalaj Saxena is one of the stalwarts in domestic cricket with truck loads of experience in all three formats. In 54 T20 matches, Saxena has taken 49 wickets at an economy rate of 6.92. The off-spinner, who also bats at the top of the order, has 633 runs to his name in T20s.

He was a part of the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2019; however, they released ahead of this season’s auction. Deep Dasgupta backed Jalaj Saxena saying he has the necessary experience to shine for Chennai Super Kings.

“He’s someone who has got a lot of experience not just in red ball cricket but also in white ball cricket he’s been around for a while,” said Dasgupta.
