Delhi Capitals, with ₹21.8 crore as their budget, entered the auction in Abu Dhabi with a very clear goal to get the best players possible at the lowest possible prices. They immediately became the first franchise to start the bidding, and the management made some very wise moves at the beginning, acquiring the South African finisher David Miller and the English opener Ben Duckett.
It was really unbelievable that both the international stars were bought at their base price of ₹2 crore each since the franchise was not contested for their signatures.
The team changed the domestic talent strategy and cut down the significant amount of money on Jammu and Kashmir all-rounder Auqib Nabi Dar, who is a very expensive player. However, the most intriguing story of the day was Prithvi Shaw. He was overlooked last year and rejected twice earlier that day, but the right-hander was finally given another chance.
