Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are likely to miss opener Devon Conway’s service over the next week. If reports are to be believed true, the South African-born cricketer has left for home for his wedding. He featured only in the IPL 2022 opener against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on March 26.
Incidentally, the entire Chennai contingent came together to celebrate Conway’s pre-wedding a couple of days back. The cricketers and support staff got decked in traditional Chennai attire for the party. They were spotted dancing their heart out to celebrate the occasion.
Soon after the event, Devon Conway left the bio-bubble for his native country where the wedding is all set to take place. As per ESPNcricinfo, Conway will rejoin CSK on April 24. As per the rules, the opening batsman will have to stay in isolation for 3 days and clear all the protocols before joining the camp. The Kiwi cricketer will unavailable for selection for at least 2 games for the Yellow Army.
Chennai are scheduled to take on Mumbai Indians on Thursday (April 21). After the MI fixture, they will take on Punjab Kings on Monday (April 25). They will have a six-day break after the Punjab fixture and will face Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday (May 1).
Chennai Super Kings continue to search for their second win of IPL 2022
The defending champions got off to the worst start, losing the first four games of the season. However, they returned to winning ways in their fifth game, beating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in a high-scoring thriller. But they went down in their next game against Gujarat Titans.
The Super Kings are currently ninth in the points table with two points in six games. They will look to secure their second win of the season when they lock horns with Mumbai Indians on Thursday, who are also yet to find a win in the season. Every defeat will hurt CSK’s chances at this stage and they need to get their campaign back on track.
