South Africa’s promising batter Dewald Brevis has lately spilled the beans about his admiration for MS Dhoni’s humility and personality while with the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025. Brevis joined CSK midway through the season as an injury replacement for Gurjapneet Singh, making quite an impact: he knocked up 225 runs in six innings with two half-centuries.
Brevis admired Dhoni for being so approachable and humble; often, he would hang out in Dhoni’s room, chatting about cricket and other hobbies. “His room door is always open. The only time it’s closed is when he’s sleeping,” Brevis said in reference to Dhoni always being ready to engage with the players.
During his tenure with CSK, he enjoyed some hits, including half-centuries like the one against Gujarat Titans in CSK’s last game of the season. Even if CSK had signed a dismal campaign that saw them finish tenth on the points table, Brevis’ contributions were noteworthy.
For Brevis, the whole CSK experience was memorable courtesy of Dhoni. What stayed with him were Dhoni’s humility and personality as the key learning from his time at the IPL.
“He is as a person that stood out for me”- Dewald Brevis

According to South African middle-order batter Dewald Brevis, other than Dhoni’s cricketing mastery, what really struck him the most during his time with Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025 was Mr. Dhoni’s humbleness and personality.
“The one thing that I can just say from MS is his humbleness and who he is as a person that stood out for me. How he is basically off the field, the time he has for players, for people. His room door is always open. If he’s sleeping, that’s the only time it’s closed” Dewald Brevis said.
