Dhananjaya de Silva pulls out of the West Indies tour following the tragic death of his father

Sri Lankan cricketer Dhananjaya de Silva withdrew from the squad for the West Indies tour following his dad”s murder. His father Ranjan, a local politician was shot by unidentified guys at Colombo on Thursday midnight.

The police officials said that the investigation regarding the same is underway but no arrests have been made till now.

The Srilankan cricket board is expected to announce his replacement today. The tour is comprised of three tests and will be played from June 6 to June 28th. Their opener Dimuth Karunaratne has been already ruled out due to a finger injury and it will be interesting how this squad can make again the ICC test rankings.

Sri Lanka are currently placed sixth in the ICC rankings while Windies are below Bangladesh at the ninth position. A series win will boost their confidence at home while Srilanka with a Youngs squad will try to create an impact at the bowler friendly pitches.

Prior to the first test, Sri Lanka will also play a three-day warm-up game against a local windies team.
