Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batting coach Dinesh Karthik, currently in England for commentary duties, took to social media platform X to clarify a recent episode involving franchise wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma, who led RCB in two matches during the IPL 2025 season.

The incident occurred during the third Test between England and India at Lord’s, where Sharma, standing in as captain during Rajat Patidar’s absence, was initially denied access to the Lord’s media centre. Karthik, present inside at the time, intervened and ensured Sharma was let in, stating later that the RCB player had come on his invitation.

Prior to Karthik’s clarification, reports had circulated suggesting Sharma was stopped from entering the stadium entirely, with claims that security personnel failed to identify him. The confusion sparked a wave of online reactions, with RCB fans expressing outrage while others found the situation humorous.

Dinesh Karthik’s composed explanation helped ease the brewing tension between different groups of Indian cricket supporters.

“These are some issues with social media that a lot face. I invited jitesh to the comm box , he had come , and I came and met him down and took him to the comm box and he met everyone there. Btw this is below the media center , not the entrance to the ground (sic),” wrote Karthik.

England Clinch Thrilling 22-Run Victory Over India At Lord’s

England defeated India by 22 runs in the third Test of the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Lord’s on Monday, July 14. Chasing a manageable target of 193 in the final innings, India collapsed under pressure and were dismissed for just 170. Ravindra Jadeja was the lone warrior for India, finishing unbeaten on 61 as wickets kept falling around him.

He showed resilience while batting with the tail, offering guidance to Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, who together faced 84 deliveries in a determined effort to delay the outcome and keep India’s hopes alive. Despite their resistance, England held their nerve to secure the win and now lead the five-match series 2-1, with two more Tests remaining.
