The Kolkata Knight Riders today flexed their muscles against Sunrises Hyderabad. After losing their first match, KKR was on song from the very beginning.

Their marquee player Pat Cummins today was given the new ball and he did not disappoint. Cummins took the prized wicket of Bairstow and gave away just 19 runs in his 4 overs spell.

Advantage Having Quality All-Rounders In KKR- Dinesh Karthik

The Sunrises once again struggled with their bat as no one was able to play with authority. Skipper Warner failed to capitalize on his start whereas Manish Pandey and Saha lacked intent. As a result, SRH could only make 142 runs in their 20 overs.

Meanwhile, the KKR run chase was all about Shuman Gill. The young batsman anchored the innings perfectly and looked at easy against the SRH bowlers. Gill made 70 not out and along with Eoin Morgan took his side home. KKR chased down the target with 2 overs to spare and only lost 3 wickets in the process.

Here’s what the winning captain of KKR, Dinesh Karthik had to say after winning against SRH

Dinesh Karthik said, “I think it’s always good to get on the board. Been working hard and guess we deserve it. I think for us the advantage is having allrounders. Privileged to have them so might as well use them whenever I can.

The fact that we’ve been able to groom youngsters, we’ve stayed with them. Was a bit emotional for Kamlesh Nagarkoti.”

“We stuck with him and people ask where he is. It feels good as a captain. I want to make sure Gill is having an easy journey with no pressure. I think McCullum is very clear that the best batters bat at the top of the order, I just need to get some runs”, Karthik said post the clinical win against SRH.
